Unilock DriveGrid Geogrid is an advanced product specifically designed for trafficked surfaces. DriveGrid Geogrid’s multi-directional properties leverage triangular geometry, one of construction’s most stable and widely utilized shapes, to provide an enhanced level of in-plan stiffness. Its triangular structure, coupled with improved rib and junction geometry, offers the construction industry an improved alternative to conventional and practices.

DriveGrid Geogrid is manufactured from a punched polypropylene sheet oriented in multiple, equilateral directions to form its triangular apertures, resulting in high radial stiffness throughout the full 360 degrees. This feature yields a more efficient product that delivers optimal in-service stress transfer rom the aggregate to the stabilizing geogrid.

Easy to Install
Rolls are easy to handle and rollout onto the subgrade. It takes only minutes. Rolls can be easily cut in half with a cut-off saw for small projects.
Reduces Overall Project Cost
DriveGrid mechanically stabilizes the base so you need less gravel base to accomplish the same load bearing capacity as a deeper base which saves money on base and excavation.
DriveGrid is very inexpensive to purchase and affects the project cost only marginally. Many contractors see DriveGrid as inexpensive insurance.

Mechanical stabilization of granular bases with geogrid is a proven technology with thousands of miles of roads around the world to its testament. DriveGrid® geogrid, is made with Tensar Triax Technology™ and is a superior geogrid to bi-lateral geogrid in that it provides unilateral stabilization regardless of the load pressure points.

When Unilock learned about the tremendous benefits that are derived from mechanical base stabilization, we made sure to share this technology with our customers and are continuously recommending that they incorporate this inexpensive insurance into every residential hardscape.

Not only is there an increased load-bearing performance when DriveGrid is used, but base thickness can be reduced up to 50% resulting in substantial savings with the reduction of excavation, gravel and compaction time required.

DriveGrid should be used on every project. It is definitely a hardscape best practice and makes good business sense, from initial savings to reduction in project callbacks and repairs.



The installation of DriveGrid is easy. It is simply rolled out and placed at the bottom of your excavation (provided that it is no deeper than 12” (30cm)) before placing the gravel. The gravel sits directly over the geogrid and creates a lock-up of the gravel. The gravel must be an approved road base gradation or a permeable base material like ¾” open graded stone (ASTM No. 57). The maximum benefit of DriveGrid is when it is about 8” below the paver surface. The deeper the base, the less benefit is derived. For additional strength, we recommend 2 layers of grid about 6” apart.
